What new hobbies will you choose at university?

I’ve been meaning to write a short but sweet post about the extracurricular activities which are possible outside of university. I developed many new skills throughout my first course, from science-writing to snow-riding!

I think everyone gets a bit trigger happy at the sports and societies fair… I can safely say that all students sign up to many more clubs and societies than they will ever actually attend! There is however a good chance that you will engage with at least one of the clubs; for me that club was Plymouth Snowriders.

Plymouth boasts a dry ski slope, offering affordable evening lessons which are subsidised by the sports club. The proximity of the slope to the city is a huge bonus, and owing to this I found myself going weekly up until the epic Snowriders holiday!

Inspired by friends who had done the same, in between my undergraduate and postgraduate studies, I travelled to Morzine in Haute-Savoie, France to undertake a snowboard season in the winter of 2012/13. I met some fantastic people and had fun playing on the picturesque tree-lined slopes of the mountain range

Here I am on the top of the world in Val Thorens in mid-April of this year, where I travelled with some of the friends I made on my undergraduate course.

Take all the opportunities you can at university!

À bientôt !
