Holidays can be so expensive and might seem completely off the cards as a student. My friend and I had always wanted to go to Barcelona, but every time we looked it was ridiculously expensive and we would never have been able to afford flights and to stay in a hotel. Around easter time, we had a look just to see how much it would cost, and managed to get very affordable flights because we were booking far in advance (under Β£100 for return) and found a cheap Air BnB to stay in. Every summer when I’ve finished university and head home, I question whether I want to go back to work over the summer. I’ve worked in the same cafe every summer for 3 years, and I always go back because I have so much free time on my hands. Plus, when I’m at home for 3 months, I’m always in need of the money! After the initial reluctance to return to work, I always end up enjoying working with the team again and getting back into the swing of earning money. However, it sometimes becomes hard to find a balance between work and doing other things over the summer. Last weekend I packed up all my stuff from second year, moved out of our house and came home for summer. A week has passed, and as nice as it is to be home again, I miss Plymouth already! Packing can be quite stressful, and I don’t help myself by leaving everything until the very last minute - I was literally still packing the morning that my mum arrived with the car. πŸ–οΈ A BBQ at Bantham Beach πŸ–οΈ

A few weekends ago, we were blessed with sun in Plymouth! Our instant reaction was: we need to have a BBQ on the beach! Being so close to the sea, there is nowhere nicer to enjoy nice weather than in Devon. Lots of people went to the Hoe, but as a couple of my friends have cars, we decided to take a trip to Bantham beach. Located about a 45-minute drive from Plymouth, we took a detour to a supermarket on the way to pick up some BBQ essentials and of course the disposable barbecue itself!
