Looking back, my second year has been amazing. There have been so many new experiences and people I have met, along with my course's second year exhibition and the summer ball, which was a blast. Here is a run through:
SECOND YEAR EXHIBITION:
The end year exhibition was amazing; so many people turned up and it was exhibited all over the Roland Levinsky Building. The exhibition was about interventions within RLB and how we would be able to use technology to showcase work that would affect the chosen specific area. I wanted to look at perception; how we can see things from a different point of view. The Roland Levinsky Building is a fantastic piece of architecture, but we do not take time to stop and stare at our surroundings. I used bottles of glass and water with a coloured projection to help us see different parts of the building in a way that we may not normally see it. I feel that everyone has come a long way with their work and personal skills development over the last two years and I was amazed to see everyone’s work!
This is the first year I have beento the summer ball, and it was amazing! Apart from ending my night in A&E because of hurting my foot, the whole experience of being with my friends and having a good dance before we left for the summer was something I would love to do again next year! I got ready with some friends, went to pre-drinks, and when we got to university for the ball we got to see Scouting for Girls perform. Everyone was so hyped for their performance of “She’s so Lovely”. I haven’t ever seen that many students on campus! After the performance some friends and I went to the fair rides area, where we got to experience some thrill during the night. After that, we visited the silent disco which I think was the best part of the night; so many horrible dance moves and singing, but the ball was still fab!
SECOND YEAR OVERALL:
I feel that I have grown as a person over second year, and I have learned a lot of things about myself. I have made many new friends who I treasure, I made loads of memories with my boyfriend, and I developed my skills further within my course. Some highlights of second year included doing social media takeovers for the PlymUniApply Snapchat and Instagram account, being invited to Royal William Yard to cover behind the scenes of “#illuminate2017”, as well as trying new cafes and restaurants I’ve never been to before, and going to Berlin with my course, which I feel has bought us closer together.
Alongside all this, after months of trying I am happy to say that I’ll be on placement in London for my third year! I’ll be living at home with my parents, but I will be coming down to Plymouth to see my friends and boyfriend every couple of months! I’m excited to see what experiences I’ll have whilst being on placement, but for now I hope everyone has an amazing summer holiday! I know I will be enjoying the sun and spending time with my family and friends back in London :)
