I’ve just finished my second year of university at Plymouth and it's gone so quickly-it still doesn’t feel like I’ve been here for two years already. With my last summer left before my course finishes, there are a few important things that need to be done before heading back.
Firstly, it’s a good idea to find some sort of work over the summer for CV experience and to earn some extra money for next year- personally I really struggled this year and had a lot of help from my parents so some money from summer work definitely would have helped! Secondly, do any research that needs to be done for your course. If, like me, you’re going to be starting your dissertation next academic year, you’re going to need to start conducting research during the summer to make the workload a little easier during the final year.
You also want to sort out your accommodation for next year if you haven’t done so already. It will take a weight off of your mind so that you have one less thing to worry about. If you're like me and are applying for another course after your undergraduate degree, start making your application and doing all the necessary paperwork involved with the process now, in time for the opening of application submissions.
Finally, make sure you do something during the summer to make it memorable! I’ll be going to Download, Board masters, Reading and Lockdown festival this year as well as heading to Germany and MTV Crashes Plymouth, so I'll have plenty of good memories of my last summer before uni finishes!
