I always thought my timed nature would be a barrier to me socialising and โ€˜making the mostโ€™ of my university experience. I wont shy away from the fact that prior to my UCAS application, Plymouth was not my first choice. Many of my friends had their eyes set on larger city campuses far away from home, with some even considering university abroad! At the time I feared that staying locally in the South West would confine me, and that there would be more opportunities in the bigger central cities (particularly in the increasingly competitive field of law). As you can guess from the fact I am writing this post, my misconceptions of Plymouth not โ€˜stretching my limits enoughโ€™ were quickly eradicated and now I cannot imagine myself being anywhere else!

๐ŸŒธ A New Girl in Town ๐ŸŒธ

Before moving to Plymouth, I feared that Iโ€™d feel like a โ€˜small fish in a big pondโ€™ โ€“ a little country-bumpkin like myself would get lost in such a big city! However it wasnโ€™t long before I started to consider the ocean city as my own little home, and was able to find my place here with ease.

My first day moving into halls I was introduced to my new flatmates โ€“ one of the great things about living in halls is that there are Facebook group chats where you can meet people beforehand, so I didnโ€™t have to worry about an awkward first meeting as we were already familiar with each other. Another advantage of living in halls is that as part of the application process you complete a โ€˜personality questionnaireโ€™ so you are matched with people similar to yourself, so I knew I would get along with the girls I was sharing a flat with.
