Why I chose Plymouth...

Being in my final year at Plymouth it seems like quite a long time ago that I was making the decision to study here! Looking at several Universities with photography courses I found Plymouth to be the most open course that would allow me to work in the area of photography I wanted (although that has adapted and evolved since studying here). There was also the lure of the darkroom…having shot one unsuccessful roll of film at college - it came out blank because I had loaded it incorrectly - I was keen to learn more and try again! At Plymouth we have marvellous facilities, namely a wet and dry, black and white darkrooms, colour darkroom and film processing room, and they are treasured by many of us.

Not only did I love the facilities, campus and staff, but my Grandfather was based here in the Royal Marines and we had holidays near Plymouth a lot as I was growing up, so it just felt like the right place to be…

And without being cheesy…coming to Plymouth has been one of the best things to have happened. I’ve learnt so much and am so passionate about my photographic practice. Also as everyone says about Uni…I truly have made friends for life - I mean they are utter idiots, but friends for life none-the-less. Freshers and halls in the first year was great and my experience with Plymouth has just got better from there! I will be sorry to say goodbye…
