I spent my third year of university life on a 12 month placement, working for Smurfit Kappa. Smurfit Kappa is a FTSE 100 company that specialise in paper-based packaging. In my role, I had to ensure implementation of the International Organization for Standardisation (ISO) 14001 Environmental Management 2015 Standard. What would a Geography course be without fieldtrips? As part of my Quaternary Ecology module, we went to Wistman’s Wood up on Dartmoor for the day.
Luckily, the morning wasn’t too early a start. We met at 8.50am outside Portland Square Building on campus and then caught our coach to a car park opposite the Two Bridges Hotel, just outside of Princetown. We’d left in brilliant sunshine and luckily the sun stayed on Dartmoor for most of the day, despite what some of the pictures show.Read More
